In this time of Covid-19, there have been changes very few of us would have believed possible nine weeks ago. Schools, government, places of worship, parks, salons, banks, barbershops, restaurants, fitness centers, families, stores of one kind and another and others have had to rethink what about what they do and how they could continuing doing it in such a way that others may be protected from a virus that for some could be fatal. I can’t remember a time when so much depended on how some one else behaved.
This seems like the perfect time to pray about our ministry at Bethany. Perhaps a good place to start is with our mission statement. Does it still capture who we are and what we do? Let us reflect on our past ministries, evaluate our current ministries and plan for our future ministries.
Below you will find our mission statement. Read it carefully. Pray about it. Highlight what speaks to you. Now, you have 140 characters (including the spaces, letters, numbers and punctuation) to tell me what Bethany’s mission will be. The Members of Bethany Presbyterian Church believe God created, called, and gathered us together through Jesus Christ our Lord, who provides forgiveness and freedom from all our sins. Through the gift of the Holy Spirit, we are empowered to be a caring and obedient community of faith, prepared to meet the challenges of a changing world, and to declare with boldness the unchanging love of God. God calls us to be the hands and feet of Christ within our church family, and for our community, and world.
We invite all to come, receive Christ, rejoice in His love, and glorify God through worship and service.
